Dedicated Spaces
Our extensive outdoor space comprises a fully covered decked garden for our younger children, a safe, enclosed garden and a covered, free-flow area for the 2 to 5 year olds.
We have recently completely redeveloped our back garden, creating an exciting new area for our children. We have a purpose-built shed opening onto the main playing area, where children can read and talk in a quitter environment. This shed is also used daily for small group activities like BLAST and Attention Autism (Bucket Time!), or where professionals can spend time with children in a quiet area.
Our back garden has a wonderful water wall, multipurpose shop fronts, a musical corner, a mud kitchen, a little allotment, a construction area, and loads of space to run, play ball games, have picnics, read books and enjoy the outdoors. Shade is available to allow children to play even on very sunny days.
Our outdoor spaces are purposeful and designed to cater for different age groups. Babies and young toddlers access a covered decked area daily, where they can play with sensory and physical resources, as well as relax and develop their social and communication skills in a relaxing atmosphere.
2 to 4 year olds can let off steam in a covered free-flow area where they can ride bikes and scooters, as well as engage in art and craft activities as well as thematical events.
Your Childcare at Little Nippers
Little Nippers Childcare is an independent nursery open 51 weeks a year, Monday to Friday, from 7am until 6pm. We are an inclusive nursery catering for children aged 0 to 5 and offer free government-funded spaces for all ages (from 9 months to 4 years old).
Our most recent Ofsted report, dating from March 2023, identified us as GOOD and praised the quality of childcare on offer. “Children settle quickly at this setting. Staff greet them with a friendly smile and encourage them into activities that interest them. The setting's curriculum aims to provide children with essential skills that help them to develop into social, confident and communicative learners.”
In 2023, we received the Bristol Standard accreditation. The Bristol Standard is a self-evaluation framework that is used by early years practitioners to enable us to take part in reflective discussions around ten dimensions of quality to identify our current strengths and targets for improvement. This is an annual cycle which settings complete and then submit for validation. Children are at the heart of the Bristol Standard and all targets detail the benefits for children of the actions being taken.
Qualified Staff
Each room is run by an NVQ3-qualified nursery nurse, alongside NVQ2 and trainee staff. A qualified primary teacher and Early Years Professional oversees the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum throughout the nursery.
